Mathenesse is bursting with talent
From musicians and singers to songwriters, performers and creative makers. To give local potential a stage and to bring the neighborhood closer together, we organize neighborhood concerts a number of times a year.
intimate, local and connecting
Six times a year we organize a free, intimate concert at a special place in the neighborhood. Sometimes in a living room, sometimes in a studio or garden – always a different location, but always close. These are moments when you can really stand still for a moment, listen to music from neighbors, and afterwards get into conversation with each other while enjoying some nice provided snacks and a drinks.
Every time we welcome new visitors and artists, so that the network expands automatically. In this way we gradually build a creative, involved Mathenesse.

I want to participate! Can I make my living room available for a concert?
Very happy! Our first concerts started in living rooms, and we would love to do that again. Experience music together in a cozy living room makes a neighborhood concert extra intimate and special. What does a visit to a living room concert cost?
Nothing at all. Zero. So free. 🎶 Thanks to residents' initiatives and a contribution from Cultuur Concreet, we can organize these concerts. In this way we treat Mathenesse to a pleasant afternoon with music, snacks and drinks, and we can pay local artists an honest wage.
I would like to perform! What are the requirements to participate?
How nice that you want that! We are happy to give talent from the neighborhood a stage. Conditions are:
• At least one band member comes from the neighborhood.
• You can play a set of 45–60 minutes (or 2 sets of 20–30 minutes).
• You fit in a living room in terms of noise level.
I produce techno. Can I also participate?
Absolutely! We love diversity and are open to everything the neighborhood has to offer, including techno. Only: because we usually keep the concerts at low volume (no license required, no burden for neighbors), we have to look together for a suitable place. Maybe a silent disco? We are happy to think along with you!
